Dalal Mawad is a multimedia journalist.She was born and raised in Lebanon. Dalal is currently a deputy news editor at Al-Jazeera English working on the Syria Desk .
She has been working as a freelancer on the Syrian conflict for the past two years . Prior to Al Jazeera, she worked as a contributing reporter with the New York Times in Beirut, covering Syria and Lebanon.

Dalal graduted with honors from Columbia Journalism School in 2012. She was awarded the Joan Konner Award for best broadcast student of the year. She was also the co-president of the Arab and Middle Eastern Journalists Association at Columbia.
She holds a B.A. in economics and a minor in Political Science from the American University of Beirut and an M.S. in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics.
From 2009 to 2011, Dalal was a researcher at the United Nations Development Program in Beirut, working on Lebanese-Palestinian relations and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. She contributed to the creation of “The Common Space Initiative,” an independent and inclusive dialogue space for Lebanon.
Dalal has published several of her articles in international and middle eastern media . She is fluent in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.
